I have not posted for a few days, but that it because I have been super busy! Things are in the pipeline... I do just want to tell you about one of the things I have been up to.

I have recorded a podcast interview with Roger Hicks from Today in Board Games. We talked about this blog, Board Game Hour and Board Gamers Ask. We also talking about board game marketing. Roger is an awesome guy and if you are not in the today in board games world, check it out!  http://todayinboardgames.com/

The podcast I am on is not up yet, but I wanted to warn you in case you did not want to have to listen to my horrific British accent :0)

More excitement coming soon...

Happy Valentine's day

Love is in the air, which for folks like us means 2 player games, am I right? So here are my top 5 recommendations for games to play on Valentines day. All of these game have two things in common, they are all two player game and none of them contain direct conflict (you don't want to be sleeping on the couch today)

1. Love Letter - Why: The theme is perfect, its simple & quick but there's interesting psychology involved.
2. Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small - Why: Its cute but with lots of strategy

3. Carcassonne - Why: a relaxing game with light strategy

4. Mice and Mystics - Why: you are working together and are mice!

5. Lost Cities - Why: It's quick (15 minutes), its light, simple but full of tension

What ever you are doing today, be it spending time with your one true love, looking for love or not giving a monkeys about Valentine's day (which make me wonder why you have read this far if that's really the case) enjoy it and remember, if life is a game, it's a co-op!

Sponsors announced for Cardboard & Sun 2014

If you love board games and like to travel we have some great news for you!

BoardGameTravel.com has announced a quality list of sponsors for their Cardboard & Sun 2014 trip to the Greek island of Paros. This is the second year this event will be taking place and the success of last year has attracted some great supporters.
“Can you think of anything you would rather do than sit by a beach, with a friendly group of gamers, playing your favourite board game? Well I can’t, which is why I am so excited about Cardboard & Sun 2014. This year it’s going to cost you less while being even bigger & better than ever!” - Iraklis Grous (event organizer)
Sponsors announced so far include:

Sun Tzu Games, which means Emil Larsen, the designer of Burning Suns. This wonderful 4x game had a long and interesting design story before its eventual triumphal funding on Kickstarter. Not only is he a sponsor but also Cardboard & Sun 2014’s guest designer. Emil will be taking with him some secret expansion and experimental stuff, in addition to new games he has been working on.

Eagle Games, publishers of fantastic games such as Francis Drake, Roll Through The Ages, Fleet, and who are currently kickstarting Nika.

Robert Burke Games is an independent board game publisher from North Carolina, USA. Published games include Cartoona, Battle For Souls, Gnomes: The Great Sweeping of Ammowan, The Offensive Band Name Generator and Draco Magi, which is now being crowd funded on Kickstarter!

GamerGlass, featuring the most beautiful game pieces you will ever play with, hand-made by Jenefer Ham.

Portal Games, publishers of such hit games as Robinson Crusoe, Legacy, Theseus, Neuroshima Hex, and Ignacy Trewiczek, author of Board Games That Tell Stories.

Cliquenabend.de, premier german-language board game review & video portal.

Booking for Cardboard & Sun 2014 is now open. The venue of the event is the boardgamer-owned Alea Apartments. Alea offers accommodation in cozy self-catered apartments and a beautiful inner courtyard where guests can enjoy playing their massive 500-game collection, full of both popular and rare modern board games. Rooms are limited and are allocated on a strict first-come, first-serve basis.

Ignacy Trzewiczek Interview Part 3

Sorry for the delay in posting part 3 of this brilliant interview! Life got in the way... Life, you can't live with it and you can't live without it... Anyway... Here is the penultimate part of our live #boardgamersask Ignacy Trzewiczek of Portal Games:

@the_FlyingSheep #BoardGamersAsk After the success of using KS for your book, are you considering using KS for publishing a game?
@trzewik @the_FlyingSheep #boardgamersask I don't know yet. Rather not. I'd rather prefer to keep KS for crazy/special projects.

@ginobrancazio @trzewik Do you design your games in Polish then translate to english or vice versa? #boardgamersask
@trzewik @ginobrancazio #boardgamersask my prototypes're in mostly ENG with some Polish words here and there. English game slang is my first language

@BoardGamersAsk If you are just watching don't be afraid to ask question of this awesome designer  #boardgamersask

@WispHollow #BoardGamersAsk If you could travel back in time and tell yourself only one thing in only 4 words what would it be?
